About our program

Wind Ensemble - Concert Band - Marching Band - Percussion - Guard - Jazz Band - Choir  - Guitar -

The Elk Grove High School Music Department is under the direction of Mario Hufana Sebastian.  The EGHS Music Department has won prestigious awards all over California and is the first high school of the Elk Grove Unified School District. The performing ensembles has ranked Excellent and Superior ratings at festivals, competitions, participates in numerous community events such as the March of Dimes and Best of Sacramento Celebration to help raise contributions for the March of Dimes. The Marching Band and Guard travelled to San Diego in December of 2010 participating in the invitational HOLIDAY BOWL parade and ½ time show featured on ESPN. 

The Marching Band and Choir has been a part of the Disney magic with Disney Magic Music Days performing in Disneyland.  They have been awarded 2008 & 2009 Best Marching Band Guard for Sacramento Magazine, Best Marching Band for 2009, 2010, & 2011 Best of Elk Grove Magazine, and Best Marching Band & Guard 2011 for Sacramento News and Review.  The Band & Guard host the 6th Annual Herd Winter Review on March 24th, 2012 with over 70 units competing in winter percussion, winter guard, and Drum Major "L" and conducting competition. This is the largest NCBA winter activity competition in the Sacramento Region.  Thank you to all of our supporters! 

The performing ensembles score excellent and superior ratings; they have received high marks in field show and parade competitions winning General Effect Sweepstakes, Visual Sweepstakes, Marching Sweepstakes, and Jazz Sweepstakes in past competitions. The Elk Grove High School Wind Ensemble has been awarded UNAMIMOUS SUPEROR at the CMEA Golden Empire music festivals in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. 

Mario Sebastian was awarded the 2006 NCBA Outstanding Director and was the 2010 conductor for the Western Slopes Honor Band. He is the band representative and administrator for the Capitol Section Honor Band for the California Music Educators Association since 2008.  Mr. Sebastian, the staff, and students would like to thank the EGHS Band Booster, parents, sponsors, and supporters for supporting our vision of music excellence through performance and community service.
